Sanyo Electric solar cells 2008/09 profit is expected to be higher than previously forecast

Japan’s Sanyo Electric on September 23 that its 2008/09 operating profit of solar cells is expected to be greater than previously estimated, thanks in the first half thanks to booming demand.

Sanyo Electric former deputy director of the Career ,7-hong said that in September to maintain strong sales of solar cells, and the previous quarter but increased by 50%. In oil prices and climate change concerns, the demand for solar cells are growing rapidly.

Sanyo Electric was the seventh largest solar cell manufacturers, competitors including Germany’s Q-Cells, Sharp of Japan and China’s Suntech Power.

Sanyo Electric has not announced a profit of the solar cell business, but covers a whole battery of the rechargeable laptop battery business, accounting for the year 2007/08 the company’s overall operating profits in recent quarters.
